It’s almost been a month that we started off with HSOP and the going’s been great till date! The site’s been getting a decent response and probably been helpful to quite a few people who’ve chanced upon it.

It’s time we have a brief look on how far we’ve come and where we need to be heading towards. I’ve captured a few screenshots from the statistics page. They’ll do the talking

On an average we’ve been getting about 25 hits per day and that’s a decent number given the restrain on the number of contributors and the short time span.

People do land on this site by various tags. We need to be able to capture their feedback in some way so that we can keep improving based on their input.Some thought needs to be given on that.

Hits by no means is an indicator of how successful the blog or site has been in serving the purpose.Nevertheless, it’s one of the motivational factors that helps in growing the blog.

Action Points:

• Of late we’ve been concentrating on branding the blog to a certain extent by primarily focussing on the Current events. The trend is to be evened out and all streams on interest need to be catered to.
• The blog has not gained much in terms of publicity. The word’s got to spread.
• We are starving in terms of contributors. Got to work seriously on roping in more people. The real trouble is in getting people to volunteer by themselves.

On a signing off note, I’m really thankful to all the contributors who have spent their valuable time forking out information and helping the blog grow.

I’ve been receiving mails from people asking me to help them out with getting started. It’s a surprise people actually started responding from the first day itself! For the benefit of all prospective contributors here’s a simple, elegant and quick guide to getting started with putting up a post on the Hyderabad Journal!

• Firstly, you need to have a word press account to post. All you need to do is to go to http://wordpress.com/signup/ and register yourself. This wouldn’t take even minute and is free of cost.
• Once you have registered, type http://hyderabadjournal.wordpress.com/we-need-your-help/ in your browser and drop a comment in the comment box.
• This would help me in giving you access to the Hyderabad journal blog. Once I give you access, you can post things on the blog with your login. Initially it would seem a bit geeky but believe me, it is pretty simple.
• You wont be penalized for goofing up things . We have a wonderful team here to set things right asap. So just don’t bother about making mistakes!

So what are you waiting for? Give it a shot! And for those who’ve taken the initiative to contribute – thanks a ton! Hope to see you as an active member of the team!
